Amber Larson

Writes and edits ActionGrove's guides on home office setup, ergonomics, and budget gear.

Background

Amber has spent the last several years setting up — and re-setting up — home workspaces in small rented apartments, the kind where the "office" has also had to function as a bedroom, a dining nook, or a closet. That repeated process of measuring, returning furniture that didn't fit, and adjusting monitor height by trial and error is the starting point for most of what gets published on ActionGrove: if a guide states a measurement, it's because that number was checked against a tape measure or a real product spec sheet, not estimated.

Before ActionGrove, Amber worked in operations and project coordination roles that involved a lot of remote and hybrid work — which is where the interest in small-space ergonomics actually started. Most of the existing advice online assumed a spare room or a dedicated office, and didn't hold up against a 9-square-meter bedroom with one usable wall.

How articles get written

Each guide starts from a specific, checkable question — "what's the right monitor height for a 27-inch screen," not "how to set up a monitor" — and is researched against product specifications, occupational health guidance, and hands-on measurement before being written up. Numbers are checked, not estimated. When something is a judgment call rather than a settled fact (chair fit, focus-timer research, for example), the article says so directly instead of presenting it as more certain than it is.

Articles are reviewed and updated when better information becomes available or when a product detail changes. The "Last updated" date on each guide reflects the most recent review, not just the original publish date.
